Energy Savings & Recycling Programs
Have you implemented "Green" technologies?
In addition to paper recycling throughout County buildings and offices, Oakland County is working to develop recycling programs with Royal Oak Waste to recycle plastic bottles. Other programs in the works include recycling:
- batteries
- fluorescent lamps
- construction debris (copper, electrical conduit, gypsum board, ceiling tiles, carpet, etc.)
The North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium (NO HAZ) provides household hazardous waste recycling drop-off points in 17 communities.
The Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County (RRRASOC) provides safe disposal of household hazardous waste to the following municipalities: Farmington, Farmington Hills, Novi, South Lyon, Southfield, Walled Lake, Wixom and Lyon Township.
The Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recycling Authority (SOCRRA) provides safe disposal of household hazardous waste to the following municipalities: Berkley, Beverly Hills, Birmingham, Clawson, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak and Troy.

In partnership with Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, Oakland County collected 22,384 pounds of used computer equipment at a one-day collection event on September 13 at the Oakland County Complex in Pontiac.
